CNI Test Bench

The developed test software is used to test the Motor(UUT) performance. These units are used in cars to slide the car windows.

Challenge

  • High speed data acquisition from torque, current and position sensors.
  • LIN Protocol to rotate Motors.
  • Simultaneously monitor and capture Voltage, Current, Speed, Torque by maintaining the LineResistance.
  • Plot Current, Torque and Speed.
  • Store and Analyse large set of test data.
  • OPC to PLC Communication
  • Reject the motors on failure

Solution

  • The LabWindows/CVI test software is used to test the performance of the Motor.
  • NI PCI cards were used to acquire data from the torque sensors, Power Supply etc.
  • NI LIN module was used for LIN communication.
  • Implementation of MultiThreaded Programming to acquire data simultaneously.
  • Linearisation algorithm was implemented in order get the required plot.
  • The acquired set of data is stored in files(.csv) and the summary of the test is stored in MySQL database.
  • RSLinx OPC to communicate between IPC & PLC and vice versa.
  • The motors will be tested thrice on failure before rejecting the Motors

Impact to Customer

  • The test software can test two types of motors.
  • Many hardware errors were rectified.
  • No manual intervention.
