Automotive Power Window Motor Testing

Automated power window motor testing with LIN communication, real-time monitoring, and data logging for performance validation.

Project Scope

  • Automating the SIM motor testing by monitoring and regulating voltage, torque, resistance, speed and current continuously.
  • LIN Protocol to test anti-Pinch motors.
  • Design GUI.
  • Continuous communication with PLC.
  • Log results to a file and the database.
  • Inspect motor functioning and different stages.
  • Test Report generation.
  • Label Printing.

Challenge

    • LIN Protocol to automate & test Anti-Pinch Motors.
    • Continuous monitoring & capture of Voltage, Current, Speed, and torque by maintaining line resistance.
    • Calibration of Voltage, Current, Speed, and torque.
    • Plot of Current vs Torque vs Speed.
    • Store and analyse a large set of test data in a database.
    • OPC to PLC Communication.

Solution

  • Automatic detection and testing of Motors in LabWindow/CVI.
  • NI PCI cards were used to acquire data.
  • NI LIN module was used for LIN communication.
  • Multi-Threaded Programming to acquire data simultaneously.
  • Linearization algorithm for plotting.
  • The acquired set of data is stored in files(.csv), and the summary of the test is stored in a MySQL database.
  • RSLinx OPC to communicate between IPC & PLC and vice versa.
